Park Shopping Centre, Belfast - PRESS RELEASE 22.10.07
LOCAL PRODUCE A HIT AS NEW FARMERS MARKET
ARRIVES AT PARK CENTRE
Northern Ireland consumers have a new Farmers Market at the Park Centre where there is a gourmet feast of the freshest local produce on sale at the south west Belfast shopping centre. The new market takes place every Thursday from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
Among the local stall holders are craft butcher Dean Irwin from Armagh ; fruit and vegetables from Ards peninsula producer Phillip McKee; fresh fish and shellfish from Alan Coffey Kilkeel and Cormac Green from Moira with organic olives and Irish farmhouse cheeses.
Welcoming the market Chris Newton, Park Centre manager said: "We are delighted to bring this farmers market to the Park Centre where our customers can enjoy a new range of fresh produce including hand crafted breads, cheeses and meats direct from the farm to the market stall."
"We believe we are well sited to host this market as we are just off the M1 for out of town visitors yet only half a mile from the city centre and we can offer free parking beside the stalls."
Organising the market is Sean McArdle from Irish Farmers Markets; "This is the first time Irish Farmers Markets have come to Belfast and we are delighted to have this new local venue. The majority of the 30 market traders here take part in our markets across Ireland." "We have a mouthwatering variety of the freshest foods including farmhouse organic cheeses, sugar free breads, homebaked pastries and pies, local fish and shellfish, jams and chutneys, and quality Northern Ireland beef from craft butchers. We also have a range of mixed crafts including jewellery and hand made soaps."
